In fact, with it’s consistent vibe—blissed-out and chill, but with an undercurrent of menace—the “lowifi” EP feels like one of those cassettes that used to live in your tape deck. The kind that would auto-play from beginning to end and back again seamlessly. The masterful production of Charley Cooks effortlessly drops layers of warm and textured instrumentation for Dana Coppa to flow from one to the next, taking the listener along with them as if you’re bouncing from room to room at a house party. When it comes to lyrical style, Coppafeel has always possessed a vocal tone and delivery that is uniquely his own, punctuating tracks almost like another instrument soloing along with the beat. On the 7 tracks that make up the “lowifi” EP, it’s clear that he has mastered his vocal instrument.
